How CfCL are working to improve your experience as a parent:
Young parents are invited to meet once a month to get together with their children and have lunch. Fun activities are planned with our young parents and children and have included, self-care sessions, Story Makers performances for the children and Christmas craft sessions. The group look forward to trips out to soft play and the farm in the future. Senior young persons advisor Katie Cooper helps to organise the young parent’s group and if you would like to find out more you can email her at katie.cooper@bromley.gov.uk.
We also understand that having a child is an emotional and sensitive time, and feeling special and cared for is important. As a group we are working on throwing group baby showers to support those who didn’t get to experience their own. New parents are also gifted a special present when their children are born to celebrate the special time.
Our young parents were able to campaign for the ‘money for parents’ priority to get Bromley to offer extra financial support. Care leaver parents are now given an extra £300 to help towards costs such as cots and bedroom furniture for their children.
