Hi beautiful people, my name is Melissa Bob-Amara and I am the Active Involvement Manager. Basically that means that I have one of the best jobs in Bromley. You’re probably wondering why that is, most people think it’s because I get to do a lot of fun things, now that’s part of it but its’s mostly because I think it’s a privilege to be a part of your lives. I’ve been working in Bromley for 15 years, and over this time I have built some wonderful relationships/friendships with young people. Now when you say yes to being involved in our projects I get super excited not only because I get to watch you grow and develop but I also get the opportunity to do the same. So what have I learnt from young people such as you over the years, here’s a few things:
- Wow you are all so full of strength, it takes strong people to go through what you are and still stay positive
- I’ve learnt to do circus skills, ok pretty random but its true
- I’ve learnt to sleep under the stars with no tents, with a bunch of amazing people
- I’ve learnt that you all have so much love to give
- I’ve learnt that young people love eating insects, so you love rising to challenges people give you
- One of the most important things I’ve learnt is that you all have a lot to offer and that your voice should always be heard
I could be here all day but, I do what I do so that you can experience new things in life, so that you can grow and learn that your voice matters. I work hard to make sure that you have the opportunities to change being in care for the better, so that everyone who works with you understands what being in care is like for you all.
