LinCC Update

 

What’s been happening in LinCC recently?

I’m just gonna give a quick update on what LinCC have been doing and what’s coming up.
So first off we’ve had a corporate parenting board meeting with all of the sub group leads (which are basically the bosses of Bromley social) and we’ve been working on school life as a child in care, working on  giving young people the opportunity to have a phone overnight and going on holiday with friends so stay posted!!.
We’ve got celebration of achievement coming so be there and LinCC have got a residential trip coming up so if you wanna join that’s a good place to start

LinCC’s Residential –

Our residential took place over the time span of two days. On the first day, LinCC heard and discussed which subgroup priorities we wanted to focus on and brainstorming ways that LinCC can make these visions a reality. On the second day, after hearing the last of the potential priorities for this year, LinCC took part in an interactive murder mystery . We enjoyed and actively embodied detectives to solve a mysterious blood-curdling murder. At the end of the last day, LinCC elected our new Chair, Vice Chair, and media rep for LinCC.

So what are our Priorities this year? Well, after our LinCC residential, LINCC decided that our eight priorities for this coming year will be:

  • To support the development of a coaching and mentoring programme for future education, training and employment. – This will hopefully give everyone in our care population better access to career advice.
  • To support the development of a new wellbeing project for young people aged 16-25. – This is in order to allow young people who are part of the care population to talk to and form friendships with people who have similar experiences.
  • To participate in the recruitment of foster carers and to contribute to the training and development of all placement providers. – This is in order to get foster carers and placement providers to better understand the importance of life long links.
  • To support the training of R.Os (reviewing officers) in order for children and young people to become more actively involved in reviews. – This is in order to reinforce stability in the Reviewing Officer (R.O) workforce.
  • To support the development of a mentoring project for hands on housing support. – This is in order to help young people in the care population to be better prepared for independent living.
  • To fundraise for the LinCC housewarming gift project. – the LinCC housewarming is gift is a bundle that LinCC members/CfCL members receive from us when they start their journey of independent living.
  • To develop the LinCC blog. – We want to prioritise uploading on here!
  • To monitor the actions created as a result of the Brightspots survey. – This is in order to get young people in the care population to improve or build trusting relationships because we want the best for all of you guys, whether you’re a LinCC member or not!
