Being in care doesn’t have to hold you back

Being in care doesn’t have to hold you back

I have never let being a ‘looked after child’ stop me from doing anything I really wanted to do.

It didn’t make me less intelligent – I passed all my exams.

It didn’t make me less capable – I started a new school to do my A-Levels.

It didn’t make me less determined – I became Deputy Head Girl at my new school.

And most importantly, it didn’t affect my goals in life – I’m now applying to university.

Basically, what I’m trying to say is that, we as ‘looked after children’ are strong people. Life has made us survivors and it doesn’t have to change anything at all. You can still be exactly who you want to be, regardless.
